STEP ONE: Start with dry hair. Massage the prewash directly onto your scalp and then work through the length of your hair to the very tip. Use as much as needed without drenching.

STEP TWO: Use neem wood comb to evenly distribute the prewash from the scalp through the strands. Spend some time slowly combing your scalp to allow nutrients to soak in.

STEP THREE: Hangout for at least 20 minutes. Walk your dog, catch up with your bestie on the phone, or just zen out on the couch.

STEP FOUR: Shampoo thoroughly (sulfate-free shampoo is recommended) and condition as you normally do. If you have fine hair, we recommend not conditioning — your prewash is your conditioner!


Time to Adjust

Being an all-natural product, allow a few weeks for your hair to adjust and really reap the benefits from the prewash. You should be able to see immediate results after your first use. But the real magic of the prewash is using it regularly so you can really build up your hair health.

We really encourage you to spend a few minutes massaging your scalp with this prewash. There are studies that show that massaging your scalp every day for a few minutes helps grow healthier, thicker hair. Massaging helps increase blood flow to your scalp, which helps oxygen and nutrients really soak into your hair roots.

How Long to Keep It In For

If 20 minutes is all you got, that's totally fine. But if you can, try to keep it in as long as possible. Sleeping in the prewash overnight is ideal — make a loose braid or top-knot bun after you massage the prewash in and before you hit the pillow.

How to Keep Clean

Wooden combs are a lot easier to keep clean than hairbrushes. You can soak the comb in a little soap water for a few minutes, and then let it dry out in the sun. Once completely dry, feel free to rub a little plant-based oil into the comb. Or you can forgo water altogether, and oil cleanse by using a clean cloth and a plant-based oil (jojoba, olive oil, coconut) to rub-down the comb.
